Requirements

  • 3-5 or more years of experience working in the EHS field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, or Technical Field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Have the ability to build consensus and develop positive relationships
  • Excellent training and computer skill; Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • Ability to be on-call outside normal business hours to provide support for a 24/7 manufacturing operation.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA) studies.
  • Runs the PHAWorks Leader software.
  • Leads and handles both internal and third party PSM/RMP audit.
  • Leads Process Safety Start-Up Review (PSSR) for changes to the covered process.
  • Handles audit findings and recommendations associated from PHA and DHA hazard studies, and internal and external audits.
  • Facilitates the monthly PSM Steering Committee meetings.
  • Collaborate with engineering on the location and storage of Process Safety Information (PSI) for the PSM covered processes and equipment, and include equipment involved in producing products which generate combustible dust.
  • Partners with maintenance and operational teams, and Reliability Lead on ensuring mechanical integrity testing is being completed on PSM covered process equipment.
  • Collaborates with covered departments on ensuring operator training is complete per PSM program requirements and that documentation of training is being retained consistent with Record Retention policies.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of operations personnel in operational techniques and standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinates pre-job safety reviews during regular, shut down, start-up activities, and pre-construction engineering capital projects.
  • Performs and participates in incident investigations, root cause analysis and trend analysis for incidents, figures out correction and preventive actions, and tracks action to completion in incident database.
  • Assists in the coordination and administration of the plant’s Incident Command Team, Crisis Management, Emergency Action Plan (EAP), and security programs.
  • Partners with plant leadership to drive accountability for the completion of action items from the MOC process, PHA recommendations, DHA recommendations, and audit findings.
  • Monitors and supports the shipment of hazardous materials including oversight of manifests, placarding, inspections, operating procedures, and training for regulatory compliance with Department of Transportation.
  • Supports the plant security program and oversees procedures, protocols, personnel, systems, and inspections from external parties and agencies.
  • Monitors the Stormwater, Spill prevention countermeasures and controls, and Wastewater programs while consulting with Site Environmental Lead.
  • Organizes and maintains both electronic and hard copy departmental files, records, and follow up on pending matters. Supports and monitors site compliance activity calendar.
  • Assists in the coordination and administration of the plant’s Safety Crisis Management, Incident Command, and Emergency Response programs.
