Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and education; Master’s degree a plus
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience required. Prior experience in a public accounting firm preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong experience and working knowledge of accounting standards. Specifically, ASC 606, 842 and 718
  • An energetic and positive attitude with a hands-on mentality
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to identify and allocate attention to new projects and process improvements

Responsibilities

  • Research and review of all the Company’s technical requirements both GAAP and Statutory requirements
  • Ensure all external filings and reports are technically consistent
  • Monitor current updates in GAAP and Statutory regulations and present these updates to the finance leadership team
  • Monitor the activities of all accounting and airline industry standard setting bodies, i.e. FASB, SEC, AICPA, DOT, FAA, etc.
  • Evaluate the impact of new pronouncements on the Company financial statements (both Statutory and GAAP)
  • Draft and/or review accounting white papers, position papers, and the Company’s position around technical accounting topics
  • Plan and coordinate research of technical accounting issues related to the Company and discussions with its outside auditors regarding the company’s evaluation of technically complex transactions
  • Monitor and update corporate accounting policies
  • Participate in external reporting and ensure public disclosure is complete and accurate
  • Consult with independent auditors on accounting matters and disclosure requirements as required
  • Participate in accounting due diligence, implementation, and integration activities including purchase accounting, fair value assessments, and related processes
  • Present GAAP and Statutory updates to accounting personnel and finance leadership
  • Assist with various special projects and supporting other Finance Department functions as necessary
  • Bring new fresh ideas and knowledge of accounting best practices and latest industry trends and assist in implementation
  • Assist in other areas as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience writing or reviewing technical accounting memorandums
  • Strong knowledge of Reg S-X and Reg S-K
  • Experience with the review or preparation of various SEC filings including Form S-1, Form 10-Q, Form 10-K etc.
  • Experience with developing or auditing strong control environments which have been subject to Section 404(b)
  • Experience with Initial Public Offerings (IPO)
