Requirements
- Knowledge and experience meeting DOE Orders and standards compliance requirements including DOE O 413.3b to support DOE O 413.3b gating decisions CD1 to CD4 and associated with the project life cycle.
- Working knowledge of Project Management principles and best practices including DOE directives and guidance associated with line-item project management.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively within a team environment and provide excellent customer service.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, experience developing documents, plans, reporting, and briefing materials. Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with various audiences.
- Knowledge of organizational skills and configuration management. Ability to identify actions, outline schedule, and track to completion job related tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and ability and willingness to learn and use new systems as required.
- Ability to obtain ‘Q’ clearance with the US federal government.
Responsibilities
- As assigned, support the Federal Project Director (FPD) in overseeing and executing responsibilities associated with achievement of DOE O 413.3b gating decisions CD-1 to CD-4 for line-item projects.
- In support of the Federal Project Director, develop high level schedules/ timelines and associated action lists outlining key tasks recognizing interdependencies for achievement of critical decisions.
- Applying knowledge of compliance standards and requirements and project management principles to identify tailoring opportunities that implement the Office of Infrastructure’s strategic, mission focused, agile, risk informed and timely (SMART) approach to delivery.
- In support of the Federal Project Director, initiate, draft, and shepherd to completion, federal documents, briefing materials, and correspondence associated with critical decision gates.
- Review critical decision documents, including but not limited to project plans, schedules, estimates, and reporting as requested and/or necessary to support performance assessment.
- Apply experience and knowledge to develop, and/or evaluate project plans spanning all project phases, including initiation, baseline development, execution, turnover, and closeout.
- Participate in project meetings and provide appropriate status summaries to leadership and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with federal agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the integrated project team to give the Federal Project Director a big picture assessment of the project’s overall performance/ progress to critical decision gate.
- Participate in internal and external reviews associated with critical decision gates.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across all project activities.
- Maintain knowledge and strict compliance with informational, operational, and physical security requirements.
- Participate in Lessons Learned development and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting gating decisions CD-1 and CD-2/3 for a Major System Project >$750M.
- Knowledge and experience with DOE NNSA Project Management and Earned Value requirements.
- Accredited four (4) year degree in engineering/technical preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Minimum (10+) years of related project experience and 20 total years’ experience.
- Local New Mexico applicants and prior LANL experience preferred.
- US Citizenship is required. Active security clearance is preferred but not required to start.
