Requirements
- JD degree and active license to practice law (member of a State Bar)
- 10+ years of legal experience, including in-house work at a tech company, with a focus on employment law
- Experience providing pragmatic legal guidance on tech products
- Strong problem-solving skills balancing legal risk with business needs
- Collaborative and able to thrive under pressure in cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to build consensus and foster strong relationships
- Eagerness to dive in and drive projects independently
- Interest in how technology can improve HR processes and reduce pain points
- Attention to detail and follow-through in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Counsel the product, engineering, and design teams on a range of issues including employment compliance, wage & hour, employee benefits, marketing, data privacy, and AI use
- Advise on complex regulatory frameworks to design or enhance innovative and regulated B2B and B2C products and services that support the HR and compliance needs of small businesses
- Contribute to our product suite from brainstorm and ideation through launch
- Contribute to key initiatives helping to mature our Legal & Compliance team’s functions
- Empower legal and compliance individuals focused on strategic HR product initiatives
