Requirements

  • Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, or other relevant actuarial organization.
  • SQL and Excel expertise
  • Adaptive communication style with the ability to communicate results from actuarial analyses to non-technical audiences at all levels, including senior management.
  • Ability to build relationships, collaborate and establish credibility with all stakeholders.
  • Timeliness of delivery and appropriate prioritization when there are conflicting demands.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly Rate Monitoring and Quarterly reporting processes
  • Build and maintain pricing tools and reports
  • Lead rating engine development and improvement
  • Support selection of Loss Ratios in the financial plan, with consideration of business strategies, market conditions, mix of business, loss trend, loss costs and reinsurance structures.
  • Lead the regular product monitoring analysis cycle and the discussion with the Division and Business leaders to identify issues, discuss opportunities, assist in the development of actions plans, and develop measures to monitor their progress.
  • Work with Ceded Re on Treaty placements and impact of Reinsurance
  • Synthesise information across subject areas and present conclusions to individual line underwriting leaders as well as divisional management.
  • Monitoring the execution of underwriting actions and strategy implementation; assessing the impact of these on the account’s profile and emerging claims experience.
  • Maintain the feedback loop of information and analyses between the pricing, reserving, capital modelling and business planning processes.
  • Support the Underwriting team with Ad Hoc request including (but not limited to) large account pricing, rating model support, key metric summaries, etc.
  • You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.
