Requirements
- PhD or equivalent in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Material Science, Physics
- 6 years of relevant work or academic research experience in integrated optics
- Experience with micro and nano fabrication techniques and tools
- Experience with CMOS and VLSI tools and processes
- Strong fundamentals of the design and characterization of integrated optical components
- Strong fundamentals in electro-magnetic theory, statistical analysis, and quantum mechanics
- Proven team player with an ability to work effectively across departments, sites, time zones
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and detail oriented problem-solving skills
- Proven experience executing cross-department complex projects
- Ability to work independently with limited direction
- Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver against a schedule
Responsibilities
- Interacts with device, hardware and software design teams to deliver passive photonic components that meet target specs
- Develops novel techniques, components, and sub-systems and manages their development from concept, to prototyping, to integration into a CMOS process flow, to final assembly, packaging, and qualification
- Hands on involvement in every step of the technology development cycle – fundamental model development, prototyping, testing, data analysis, design qualification, and process integration
- Provides multi-disciplinary support to component and systems teams by resolving technical issues associated with components, parts, products, or systems
- Applies quantitative analysis in determining root cause of highly technical problems and proposes, develops and implements solutions for corrective action
