Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Material Science, Physics
  • 6 years of relevant work or academic research experience in integrated optics
  • Experience with micro and nano fabrication techniques and tools
  • Experience with CMOS and VLSI tools and processes
  • Strong fundamentals of the design and characterization of integrated optical components
  • Strong fundamentals in electro-magnetic theory, statistical analysis, and quantum mechanics
  • Proven team player with an ability to work effectively across departments, sites, time zones
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and detail oriented problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience executing cross-department complex projects
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver against a schedule

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with device, hardware and software design teams to deliver passive photonic components that meet target specs
  • Develops novel techniques, components, and sub-systems and manages their development from concept, to prototyping, to integration into a CMOS process flow, to final assembly, packaging, and qualification
  • Hands on involvement in every step of the technology development cycle – fundamental model development, prototyping, testing, data analysis, design qualification, and process integration
  • Provides multi-disciplinary support to component and systems teams by resolving technical issues associated with components, parts, products, or systems
  • Applies quantitative analysis in determining root cause of highly technical problems and proposes, develops and implements solutions for corrective action
