Senior Photonic Component Development Engineer

PhD or equivalent in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Material Science, Physics
6 years of relevant work or academic research experience in integrated optics
Experience with micro and nano fabrication techniques and tools
Experience with CMOS and VLSI tools and processes
Strong fundamentals of the design and characterization of integrated optical components
Strong fundamentals in electro-magnetic theory, statistical analysis, and quantum mechanics
Proven team player with an ability to work effectively across departments, sites, time zones
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and detail oriented problem-solving skills
Proven experience executing cross-department complex projects
Ability to work independently with limited direction
Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver against a schedule

Interacts with device, hardware and software design teams to deliver passive photonic components that meet target specs
Develops novel techniques, components, and sub-systems and manages their development from concept, to prototyping, to integration into a CMOS process flow, to final assembly, packaging, and qualification
Hands on involvement in every step of the technology development cycle – fundamental model development, prototyping, testing, data analysis, design qualification, and process integration
Provides multi-disciplinary support to component and systems teams by resolving technical issues associated with components, parts, products, or systems
Applies quantitative analysis in determining root cause of highly technical problems and proposes, develops and implements solutions for corrective action
