Requirements
- Associate’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical) or equivalent technical training and experience. Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the assembly and testing of complex opto-electro-mechanical instruments or similar high-precision equipment.
- Demonstrated expertise in working with optical systems, including alignment, adjustment, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies, including reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and tolerances.
- Proficiency in basic electronics, including circuit understanding, wiring, and troubleshooting using multimeters and other test equipment.
- Experience with motion control systems, including motors, encoders, and controllers.
- Excellent manual dexterity and fine motor skills for assembling small and intricate components.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting technical issues.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document work clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to travel international and domestic occasionally.
Responsibilities
- Independently assemble complex analytical instruments according to established procedures, drawings, and specifications. This includes working with optical components, precision mechanical assemblies, electronic boards and wiring, and motion control systems.
- Perform comprehensive testing and calibration of assembled instruments, including functional testing, performance verification, and alignment procedures.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues that arise during assembly and testing, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Document all assembly, testing, and troubleshooting activities accurately and thoroughly in relevant logs and databases.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and quality assurance teams to resolve technical challenges, implement process improvements, and ensure product quality.
- Assist other departments, such as biosensor development team and sales team, in solving instrument related problems.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of assembly and testing procedures, work instructions, and quality control processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
- Help managing inventory of components and escalate any shortages or discrepancies.
- Participate in the training of new manufacturing personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Wet lab experience is a plus but not required.
- Experience with data acquisition and analysis software is a plus.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices is a plus.
