Responsibilities

  • Providing oversight and review of the deliverables prepared by team members responsible for HR and Employee Benefits Accounting, Research & Development, and Global Royalties ensuring accounting compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) during month-end close process
  • Review and approve relevant journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure they are complete and accurate
  • Interact proactively with functional areas to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting is accomplished within prescribed deadlines and in accordance with IFRS, including proactive communication to Senior Management / business by detailing key drivers leading to deviations or potential future impacts
  • Drive continuous process improvements that leverage industry trends, best practices and stakeholder feedback to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and address business / operational changes
  • Collaborate and communicate timely with key stakeholders, including cross-functional business and Finance associates, internal and external auditors, and Regional/Global Financial Reporting
  • Drive complex accounting issues and topics related to the HR Accounting, Share-based compensation and Royalties, and partner with the Technical Accounting team to document conclusions
  • Provide accounting / reporting support as a Subject Matter Expert for assigned function(s), region, and certain complex technical accounting topics
  • Support cross-functional global teams in assessing new programs and related accounting implications, considering desired outcomes of partners and compliance with applicable accounting guidance
  • Providing technical accounting support to global functions on complex / significant matters, preparing / reviewing appropriate accounting documentation in line with matrix for approval of accounting issues
  • Responsible for accounting compliance with IFRS as interpreted by Group and including assisting the Director, Technical Accounting – Corporate Functions in the following: Maintaining the various requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act for Global Functions in conjunction with established processes, including balance sheet reconciliations
  • Responsible for analyzing balance sheet, cash flow, income statement and provisions, and other elements associated with the specific activities of global functions and driving improvements in the process and presentation of the output
  • Rolling out improvements for HR Accounting and Comp. & Benefits, Global Royalties and R&D and documentation to the Regions and local entities as appropriate
  • Supervise, coach, and develop direct reports and create positive working environment, enhancing cross-training and employee development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting and/or Finance preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant / Chartered Accountant
  • Accounting experience – Public and Industry
  • Strong technical accounting and reporting competencies in IFRS or US GAAP
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, influencing and management skills
  • Experience in financial accounting and reporting, auditing and financial process implementation, with record of strong control focus
  • Experience performing independent research / analysis associated with accounting and regulatory pronouncements (e.g., impact of new accounting standard on Company financial statements)
  • Experience writing accounting memos
  • Experience implementing / documenting SOX controls
  • SAP ERP understanding
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using Alteryx and Tableau is a plus
