Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in digital operations, project or program management, preferably within a digital media or news organization.
- Editorial knowledge is essential—whether through direct newsroom experience or through working closely with editorial teams.
- Experience with project management and workflow tools such as Airtable, Slack, Jira, or Trello.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Ability to think strategically while executing with precision.
- Familiarity with digital publishing tools and trends; experience with generative AI tools is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with editorial teams to ensure operational workflows and systems support content strategy, speed, and scale.
- Design and implement solutions that streamline newsroom operations across platforms and departments.
- Maintain a deep understanding of editorial priorities to ensure business and operational decisions are aligned.
- Identify and lead strategic initiatives to grow and elevate our digital news business, with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and scalability.
- Translate big-picture goals into actionable roadmaps, timelines, and project plans.
- Surface new opportunities to drive revenue, audience growth, and content optimization.
- Act as the connective tissue between editorial, product, engineering, audience development, sales, marketing, legal, and finance.
- Manage cross-team initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with clear communication throughout.
- Represent editorial perspectives in conversations about tools, platforms, and resource allocation.
- Oversee key projects from concept through execution—tracking milestones, dependencies, and outcomes.
- Establish best practices for managing editorial workflows and tools, including CMS and project tracking systems.
- Support onboarding and training efforts to ensure team members are equipped with the tools and knowledge to succeed.
- Mentor and support junior staff and program participants, including interns and associates.
- Champion a culture of collaboration, agility, and continuous improvement across the digital team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with generative AI tools is a plus.
