Requirements
- 7+ years of overall IT/Digital Backend development experience on enterprise class applications
- 4+ years of hands on experience using backend technologies, such as Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Cassandra
- 3+ years of experience leading / managing teams with direct reports with additionally experience in leading medium to large sized teams of diverse development engineers across multiple locations.
- 2+ years partnering with architecture, product, and program management teams to influence product development assisting or improving products, Microservices, and API’s
- Experience with large public cloud technologies (GCP preferred)
- Experience with leading teams who follow a Scrum/Agile development methodology
Responsibilities
- Self-starter who can see the big picture and prioritize their work to make the largest impact on the business and customers vision and requirements
- Lead the design and development of the platform engineering team
- Act as an executive technical leader across strategic efforts, leveraging partners, technical leads, and technical expertise to better inform processes and outcomes
- Be a technologist and work with other Engineers in planning, prioritizing and performing assigned tasks within deadlines
- Develop and implement the platform engineering strategy, architecture, and roadmap
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement
- Be an advocate for and implementer of security best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing multiple work streams and dependencies
- Experience with backend API’s, experience with industry cloud providers
- Be able to identify a vision along with the plans, which need to be implemented to meet the end goal, evaluating situations, decisions, and issues in the short, medium, and long term
- Understand of performance, optimization
- Influence and persuade – able to present sound and well-reasoned arguments to convince others. Adapt to the situation and can draw from a range of strategies to persuade people in a way that results in agreement or behavior change
