Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in accounting, finance, statistics, economics, mathematics, or a similar field
  • Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems
  • Knowledge of the value of innovation; ability to create and develop new ideas for answers to work-related problems that improve the performance of the organization

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team that will drive alignment, standardization, collaboration, and simplification across all Power BI content for the division
  • Lead implementation of new dashboards, or where applicable, new analytical tools to continuously improve the financial analysis and business insights of the division
  • Leverage advanced Power BI capabilities such as query folding, data modeling, and DAX to optimize data processing and visualization
  • Translate accounting and business issues or needs to the team to aid in the creation of analytical tools
  • Research and apply new methods and digital technologies to exceed customer expectations
  • Effectively lead, influence, and interact with a global and diverse team
  • Identify, establish, prioritize, and communicate goals and objectives of the team
  • Communicate effectively within the team and with internal and external customers, including presentations to all levels of management
  • Develop good networks within the technical community across the Enterprise to enable collaboration on technical solutions, obtain resources and cooperation needed, and remove roadblocks to ensure the success of the team
  • Lead new projects, monitor multiple projects, and provide help, mentorship, and guidance
  • Coach, mentor, and lead other Data Scientists and Business Resources on internal team how to perform data gathering, data mining, and data processing on large volumes of data; create appropriate data models
  • Have a strong focus on continual learning in the Analytics field and demonstrate strong initiative to research and apply new methods to exceed customer expectations
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Caterpillar Inc.; its products and services; its internal systems, processes, and procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company’s business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
  • Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace
  • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
  • Extensive experience working in Microsoft Applications. Experience with Axiom, Alteryx, SQL, or other analytical tools, and data visualization packages
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the application of ML/AI/GenAI and statistical methods and/or digital methods to solve business problems
  • Conduct research on data model optimization and algorithms to improve the effectiveness and accuracy of data analyses
