Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of in-depth experience Linux Engineer with expert-level knowledge of some or all of the following: Red Hat and Ubuntu, Custom OS Automated Installation – Kickstart, Scripting, Scripting languages – BASH/Python, OS Hardening (ie. SE Linux, Auditd, NIST 800-171 controls)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with engineering support staff and management across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux systems and related technologies.
  • Develop automated Linux OS builds for both servers and workstations, whether virtual or physical.
  • Leverage Red Hat Satellite and/or Ubuntu Landscape for management and patching of Linux systems.
  • Utilize Centrify for LDAP services.
  • Create Splunk dashboards for troubleshooting and analysis.
  • Collaborate with other technical teams to resolve complex system issues.
  • Engage with related technologies, including: Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS), Cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure, Virtualization technologies such as Nutanix and VMware, Supporting technologies including LDAP/Active Directory, Identity Management, Authentication, Load Balancing, Patch Management, and Security tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Red Hat Satellite Repositories and Remote Execution [REX]
  • Privileged Access Management – Centrify
  • Full Disk encryption – SecureDoc
  • Patch and package management – Tanium/JFrog Artifactory
  • Containerization – Podman/Docker
  • Implement security hardening measures, ensure compliance with industry standards like NIST, and contribute to vulnerability management efforts.
  • Device Control – USBGuard
  • Understanding of cloud and virtualization technologies: Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV
  • Familiarity with supporting technologies, including: LDAP, Identity Management/Authentication, Load Balancing, Cisco SDA, Splunk, SCAP, Monitoring and logging tools, Configuration management systems
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for operational procedures and create and maintain documentation.
  • Capable of both leading and collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Willingness to propose new ideas and thoughtfully challenge the status quo.
  • The role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and observational skills, along with a sharp focus on accuracy.
