Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering, aviation/transportation, or computer science field or relevant experience
  • 15+ years’ of experience within flight operations and/or Information Technology: supporting systems, people and processes
  • Good working knowledge of Flight Operations or Aviation/Transportation Industry
  • Experience with managing and leading Projects and Project Management concepts (certification preferred)
  • Experience with the Solution Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process
  • Experience with IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework, especially around Change & Release Management
  • Experience with Security and Risk Management including Sarbanes Oxley and ISO 27001 IT General Controls
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Experience with IT organizational and business change management concepts
  • Experience with Flight Operations systems, including but not limited to: Flight Tracking, MRO, FIDS, AOS, Crew Scheduling, CarteNav, ARM FOSS, AIMS, eFlight, Airbox, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a product and services roadmap and lead initiatives to transform Flight Operations systems by identifying key areas for improvement and implementing strategic changes
  • Work with regional and global business stakeholders, IT teams, Fleet Management and third-party service providers to manage, design, develop and implement regional and global flight operation systems and processes as global standards
  • Provide technical and operational oversight and leadership both flight operations and non-flight operations technical teams, in support of global standardization, system deployments and continuous improvements
  • Contribute to the management of a full project management and software development life cycle (SDLC) for the implementation of complex flight operations systems
  • Manage production releases while partnering with internal teams to ensure stakeholders are involved with testing, cutover, and hyper care activities
  • Manage the planning and deployment of flight following operation system integrations with company and third-party provider systems
  • Work with the business process owners to standardize the technology platform and support processes for regional and global IT Flight Operations systems
  • Develop proposals, statements of work, business requirements documents, resource planning and project plans
  • Drive process automation and replace manual operations to create efficiencies
  • Oversee the relationship with third party onsite and offshore IT resources on Software Development and Service Management activities including product backlog development; incident management; change management; and release management
  • Review and assist in the development and delivery of system and process training to user community through webinars, videos, knowledge base, and other employee engagement practices
  • Work directly with software vendor to deliver new functionality and to ensure prompt resolution of any problems or emergencies
  • Act as point of escalation for on-call application support for critical issues as needed
  • Support the business stakeholders in management and definition of business requirements for systems include enhancements and new functions
  • Identify impediments and provide appropriate issues escalation to the necessary levels as required
  • Manage risks and issues proactively, including resources, costs, and systems, and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Define and publish regular IT flight operations metrics and KPIs
