Senior Inspector – NICET II (Transportation)

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is strongly preferred.
• NICET Level II Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction or equivalent field is required.
• Proven experience in field inspection for civil, highway, or infrastructure construction projects.
• Familiarity with NYSDOT policies, procedures, and construction standards.
• Strong organizational, communication, and report-writing skills.
• Proficiency with relevant software, including NYSDOT SiteManager.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure compliance with agency standards.
• Conduct field inspections and monitor contractor activities to verify quality of work and adherence to project requirements.
• Prepare comprehensive daily inspection reports, including progress updates, field observations, and relevant metrics.
• Calculate and verify construction quantities for payment and change orders.
• Perform field testing and sampling of construction materials (e.g., concrete, asphalt, soil) in accordance with applicable procedures.
• Maintain organized and accurate field documentation, logs, and photographic records.
• Utilize systems such as SiteManager for reporting and data entry.
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and agency representatives to resolve field issues and support project delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional certifications such as ACI (American Concrete Institute), NYSDOT Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC), or OSHA 10/30 are a plus.
