Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human Factors, Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Design or a related field with 4+ years of experience; MS or higher with 3+ years of experience in medical device development
- Strong understanding of usability standards (IEC 62366, ANSI HE75, FDA Human Factors Guidance)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
Responsibilities
- Represent human factors on a project core team on more than one project at a time
- Plan and conduct task analysis and user research studies for new product/system/sub-system concepts
- Compile, organize and synthesize results of field observations, surveys and usability test results into internal communications and presentations for product teams and leadership
- Contribute to workflow and user interface designs
- Write usability engineering documents such as task analysis, usability risk analysis, usability requirements, study protocol and test reports in a timely manner
- Analyze data to identify root causes of observed use errors
- Design, execute and report on usability evaluations and tests at various stages of product development from concept exploration to formal validation testing required by US/OUS regulatory agencies
- Prepare and support usability assessment documentation for US/OUS regulatory submissions
- Manage usability engineering activities within projects and provide schedules and status updates to project team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with devices involving both software and hardware preferred
- Experience working through all phases of new product development cycle preferred
