Requirements

  • Ability to interpret and analyze key regional transmission planning studies.
  • Understanding of state and federal utility industry regulation.
  • Experience and understanding with ISO/RTO processes and rules, particularly with respect to transmission planning, interconnection, and/or operations.
  • Understanding of economic theory and wholesale electricity markets.
  • Demonstrates competency and proficiency in oral and written communications.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills, ability to apply knowledge to solve problems and strong team building skills; must think strategically.
  • Must have technical knowledge of the New England transmission grid.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering required.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in key regional transmission planning efforts and interprets the results of such studies for strategic insights and guidance.
  • Reviews engineering studies and analysis of Transmission projects throughout the project lifecycle. Interprets the results of such studies and analyses for strategic insights and guidance.
  • Analyzes federal (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission), regional (ISO New England), and state policy proposals for their impact on Eversource and our customers.
  • Develops recommended policy positions, work with internal stakeholders to reach consensus on strategy.
  • Develop analytical products, visualizations, research, and other advocacy materials to support strategic policy recommendations and outreach.
  • Scrutinizes technical reports related to the operational and economic impact of clean energy resources on the electric transmission and distribution systems in New England.
  • Represents Eversource on regional and national advisory committees (NEPOOL committees, trade associations, etc.).
  • Support regulatory compliance filings/reporting in federal, regional and state arenas.
  • May serve as an expert witness in state regulatory proceedings.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to state clean energy procurement evaluation team on transmission network and interconnection-related issues.
  • Leads teams of internal stakeholders to reach consensus on strategy.
  • Supports outreach and advocacy to external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering preferred.
  • Experience testifying in state or federal regulatory proceedings helpful, but not required.
