Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or a related field.
  • 4-10 years of direct experience in energetics manufacturing.
  • Comprehensive understanding of solid rocket motor design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with process control, quality assurance, and failure analysis methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to energetics manufacturing (e.g., DoD 4145.26, ASTM, CDLE).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize energetic manufacturing processes for solid rocket motors.
  • Oversee the production of energetic materials, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, testing, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and implement process control methods to monitor and improve production efficiency and product consistency.
  • Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations to address manufacturing defects and improve product reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in energetics manufacturing.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, procedures, and specifications.
  • Train and mentor manufacturing technicians and junior engineers in best practices and safety protocols.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in materials, manufacturing techniques, and aerospace industry trends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years experience in energetics manufacturing.
  • A desire to think outside the box and buck industry trends.
  • Direct involvement in standing up new mixing and/or milling systems.
  • Collaboration with propellant development teams to deploy new formulations of energetics.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with automated manufacturing systems and equipment.
