Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive human resources experience, including 2+ years in employee relations.
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, Title VII).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven ability to analyze complex situations, identify risks, and develop effective solutions.
- Business acumen with an understanding of academic medical center complexities.
- Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure and manage sensitive situations with discretion.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely advice, guidance, and support to leaders and HR Business Partners on complex employee relations matters.
- Investigate workplace concerns, policy violations, and disruptive behavior while ensuring a fair and consistent resolution process.
- Offer guidance on employee discipline, drafting and reviewing documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Administer, interpret, and communicate human resources policies, procedures, and federal/state employment laws.
- Develop and deliver training programs to leadership and employees on employee relations topics.
- Serve as an expert on workplace investigations, partnering with institutional departments as needed.
- Diagnose and analyze root causes of work environment challenges, using data-driven insights to develop proactive interventions.
- Support business unit reorganizations, staff reassignments, and reductions in force in partnership with HR Business Partners.
- Minimize unemployment costs by ensuring accurate documentation and participating in unemployment hearings.
- Facilitate communication between employees and leadership, guiding managers and employees through conflict resolution and problem-solving.
- Serve as a strategic resource for handling employee grievances and appeals.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in an academic medical center or healthcare organization.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or other HR-related certifications.
