Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive human resources experience, including 2+ years in employee relations.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, Title VII).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex situations, identify risks, and develop effective solutions.
  • Business acumen with an understanding of academic medical center complexities.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure and manage sensitive situations with discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely advice, guidance, and support to leaders and HR Business Partners on complex employee relations matters.
  • Investigate workplace concerns, policy violations, and disruptive behavior while ensuring a fair and consistent resolution process.
  • Offer guidance on employee discipline, drafting and reviewing documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Administer, interpret, and communicate human resources policies, procedures, and federal/state employment laws.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to leadership and employees on employee relations topics.
  • Serve as an expert on workplace investigations, partnering with institutional departments as needed.
  • Diagnose and analyze root causes of work environment challenges, using data-driven insights to develop proactive interventions.
  • Support business unit reorganizations, staff reassignments, and reductions in force in partnership with HR Business Partners.
  • Minimize unemployment costs by ensuring accurate documentation and participating in unemployment hearings.
  • Facilitate communication between employees and leadership, guiding managers and employees through conflict resolution and problem-solving.
  • Serve as a strategic resource for handling employee grievances and appeals.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in an academic medical center or healthcare organization.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or other HR-related certifications.
