Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent experience preferred
- 10+ years proven success in media sales, including at least 3 years of management responsibility
- Inventory, pricing, and political advertising/guidelines experience
- Experience in agency and direct strategic account management, broadcast inventory and digital/video capabilities
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the General Manager and other Scripps managers to establish and accomplish station objectives
- Create sales budgets and forecast weekly station revenue to achieve annual revenue targets
- Manage all broadcast and digital inventory, setting and adjusting station rates to maximize revenue
- Oversee advertising sales to clients/agencies, including local and national travel for client meetings
- Maintain high visibility in the market through meetings with clients, advertisers and community organizations
- Collaborate with other sales leaders to create best practices that optimize team performance
- Ensure sales managers and sellers utilize Scripps Sales Process (SSP) resources and tools
- Create and manage enterprise or local station initiatives and new business projects
- Work with Sales Managers to train, develop and motivate the local sales team
- Foster career growth and development of the sales team to build a pipeline of talent
- Provide training and developmental coaching for sales managers across all aspects of sales management
- Manage personnel issues effectively
- Interface with station’s national rep firm to set goals and hold the firm accountable
- Establish local market value through knowledge of competition’s strengths and weaknesses
