Requirements
- Portfolio demonstrating great character skills, displaying a strong understanding of anatomy, character design, face shapes, and movement
- Portfolio demonstrating traditional artistic skills including illustration, and sculptural abilities a plus
- 5+ years proven experience creating digital creatures and characters in a VFX studio environment
- A deep knowledge of film and video post production techniques and a good understanding of the full VFX pipeline
- Strong knowledge of industry standard software
- Knowledge of LINUX is a necessity to navigate through ILM’s production pipeline
Responsibilities
- Create high end CG creatures, characters and costumes for a variety of feature film and episodic projects
- In building creatures, incorporate technical expertise, artistic ability, and a great understanding of visual effects to ensure assets meet all aesthetic and technical attributes needed for the show
- Collaborate with the Modeling Lead/Supervisor, VFX Supervisor, and Texture Artist to identify and build the ‘look’ for an asset
- Build the geometry, with an understanding of how the asset will be used in the entire production process
- Present work in dailies and discuss all aspects of the asset as needed
- Create face shapes, flex shapes and correctives
- Sculpt in shot correctives to improve and push anatomy and costumes
- Model other elements such as props or smaller hard surface builds as the project’s schedule requires
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Animation experience is a plus
- Traditional artistic skills including illustration, and sculptural abilities a plus
