Senior Cost Engineer

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Engineering, Construction Management or a closely related field
• 8–10 years of experience in cost engineering or estimating on civil or infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of civil construction methods, unit cost development, and market pricing
• Proficient in cost engineering software and MS Excel
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts
• Knowledge of industry codes, standards, and government contracting requirements

Responsibilities

• Develop and review detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects including site work, utilities, structures, transportation, and infrastructure
• Monitor and control project budgets, expenditures, and forecasts throughout all project phases
• Conduct cost risk analysis and value engineering to optimize project costs
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent cost data
• Evaluate contractor bids, review unit pricing, and provide recommendations on award decisions
• Review drawings, specifications, and project changes to update cost models accordingly
• Track cost performance against budget and report variances, trends, and corrective actions
• Support preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports and forecasting for internal stakeholders and clients
• Assist in developing cost databases, historical pricing, and benchmarking tools
• Ensure cost estimating and control practices align with company procedures, industry standards, and client requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with project management systems such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or SAP is preferred
