Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering with 2+ years of ARP 4754 certification experience, OR
- Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering, OR
- PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Experience with military qualification and/or FAA certification of airborne systems
- To be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with certification authority and Rolls-Royce stakeholders to agree scope and deliverables for each stage of involvement by the certification authority.
- Work with a cross-functional team to establish the highest standards of technical capability, quality, professionalism, and teamwork to establish plans standards and procedures for developing work products of safety critical applications as per ARP4754A, DO-178C and DO-254.
- Establish communication and understanding between the control system development team, the Rolls-Royce compliance authority and the certification authority on the certification approach, planning and compliance substantiation for the control system.
- Collaborate with the development team leaders to ensure that certification plans are followed, and certification evidence is available at all phases of development.
- Communicate the scope of certification events to the development team and review deliverables and presentations for compliance to applicable plans and standards.
- Liaise with Rolls-Royce compliance and certification authorities to establish expectations and establish agreement to address findings, actions and comments.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of ARP 4754, DO-178, or DO-254 certification experience along with application of agile development methods to deliver engineering work products
- Gas turbine engine, propulsion, or electrical control system experience
- Demonstrated experience safety critical certification liaison
- Experience developing model-based systems with digital engineering toolsets (MATLAB, Simulink and/or similar)
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw) or similar SysML modelling software
- Experience with DO-331 Model Based Development as well as experience with CAST-32A Multi-Core Processor Position Paper
- Understanding of IEEE 1633 Recommended Practice on Software Reliability
- Understanding of DO-326 & DO-356 or Risk Management Framework (RMF) Security aspects of certification
