Requirements
- BS Degree in Civil Engineering
- PE certification required in Louisiana
- Experience with Port, Rail and Roadway projects in Louisiana
- Experience with proposals and business development activities.
- Ability to work on several projects concurrently
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
- Proficient in CADD – AutoCAD/MicroStation, Civil3D, etc.
- Ability to mentor Civil engineers
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to direct and supervise staff engineers and technicians
- Strong leadership, project management skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- 10+ years progressively responsible relevant experience in a Civil Engineering role
- Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with the use of computers including spreadsheets, word processing, and engineering software and ability to prepare electronic design calculation documents
- Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively within multi-discipline project teams that may be remote
- Ability to plan ones’ own time and manage the time of others, as needed, demonstrates good time management skills
- Ability to problem solve, complete assigned tasks efficiently, and exercise sound engineering judgment
Responsibilities
- Prepares engineering analysis, design, and calculations for a portion or all of a project
- You will have prior experience managing design build rail, roadway and infrastructure projects in urban & rural environments.
- Skill sets include designing or overseeing the design of all elements in site development including grading and earthwork, erosion control, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, drainage design for gravity and pressure systems, utility design, permitting and environmental compliance
- Understands surveying and can interpret survey data required to complete designs
- Works with dynamic and diverse multi-discipline design teams across multiple sectors and geographies
- Prepares project drawings, calculations, specifications and cost estimates
- Prepares scope and fee estimates on projects or portions of projects, may be required to help prepare proposals for project pursuits
- Performs construction phase assistance tasks including responding to RFI (Requests for Information), visiting job sites, reviewing submittals, and coordinating with the design team to resolve field related issues
- Familiar with all aspects of construction document preparation and capable of independently making design decisions and preparing the construction document package
