Requirements

  • 4+ years of financial/data analysis experience
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger
  • Skill in Excel and Word applications is necessary
  • Time management skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education – or relevant equivalent combination of education, military experience, and skills – is required

Responsibilities

  • Provide information monthly to the Senior Director, Finance concerning expenditures and balances for operating budgets. Flag unusual fluctuations and alert management of concerns
  • Partner with Senior Accountant to ensure all monthly accounting entries are completed to begin P&L analysis
  • Demonstrate ability to understand accounting and financial concepts to analyze transactions and impact on both P&L and balance sheet
  • Serve as primary contact to review all unbudgeted spending and opportunities for new lines of business. This includes partnering with department to create a business case and ROI analysis
  • Assist the Senior Director, Finance and business unit leads in developing their annual operating budget, five-year capital plan, and quarterly forecasts
  • Coordinate with facilities any upcoming infrastructure upgrades that are expected to be covered by the individual departments and make sure expenses are included in budget
  • Coordinate and assist in loading budget and forecast into PBCS system
  • Provide insight on variance analysis during quarterly forecast
  • Update semi-annual cash flow commitment schedules for all auxiliaries
  • Assist departments in reviewing financial component of contracts
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports and participate in special projects as needed
  • Lead, cross train, and serve as a resource for DofA finance/accounting team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with Oracle ERP
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people, understanding their needs and goals
  • Ability to work co-operatively with others as part of a team, as opposed to working separately or competitively
  • Openness to change, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in a variety of situations, with individuals or groups
