Requirements

  • BS/MS in biology, molecular biology, genome sciences, biochemistry, or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in an academic or industry laboratory in a relevant field
  • Fundamental understanding of molecular and cellular biology
  • Experience with basic molecular biology techniques such as cell culture, western blot, PCR, cloning, etc.
  • Experience with flow cytometry
  • Knowledge regarding adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector-based gene therapy methods and technologies
  • Familiarity with in vivo experimentation and basic mouse husbandry
  • Highly organized, enthusiastic, and able to manage multiple projects

Responsibilities

  • Performing cell-based assays using transfection and viral vector transduction techniques in BSL2 mammalian cell culture and analyzing transfection efficiency using flow cytometry
  • Performing RNA and DNA isolation and purification from cell culture and tissue samples
  • Performing molecular biology experiments using qPCR, dPCR, and ddPCR
  • Developing and implementing ELISA and Western blot-based protein expression analysis assays
  • Producing, purifying, quantifying, and characterizing AAV vectors
  • Analyzing and presenting data (familiarity with Graphpad Prism or other statistical/graphical software)
  • Collaborating with therapeutic-focused groups to characterize and optimizing construct designs based on functional activity in various in vitro and in vivo models
  • Participating in team meetings and preparation of presentations for departmental meetings
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of experimental procedures, data, and analysis, including meticulous sample tracking and data management
