Requirements
- Generally, requires 4 years of experience, and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Degree in Communications or English degree preferred.
- A minimum of four years of internal communications or executive communications-related experience.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in clear, compelling ways. Able to write quickly while maintaining a high level of quality on short deadlines, and to edit the work of others.
- Demonstrated ability to write in other’s voices, and to adapt writing style to the leader or organization on a project-by-project basis.
- Track record of effective working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization, including managers and peers.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including managing multiple priorities.
- A dedication to communicating factual, data-driven information through a nonpartisan lens.
- Team-oriented attitude, with the ability to work independently.
- Sound judgment in determining relevant content for internal audiences and anticipating trends and interests within and outside of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the internal communications strategic plan under the direction of the director of internal communications in the executive office.
- Write clear, articulate, and on-message communications: Develop internal stories and features for Pew’s intranet that highlight the organization’s programs and initiatives, values, and goals, and help to drive staff engagement and showcase Pew’s work.
- Create or edit materials that reflect the CEOs voice and institutional priorities, including correspondence and reports. Produce materials on behalf of other Pew leaders or internal units as needed.
- Support special projects, including drafting and managing reports, researching, and creating other communications materials.
- Assist in planning and execution of internal events and activities that foster a strong culture, including volunteer activities for staff, and maintain editorial and institutional calendars.
- Stay current on internal and executive communications trends and best practices, incorporating new ideas as appropriate.
- Support a welcoming culture by creating staff communications that encourage an inclusive, informed, and engaged organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
