Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a business-related field.
  • Minimum 2 – 3 years of experience in statutory accounting within P&C industry
  • General understanding of GAAP policies, and internal controls
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office suite with an emphasis on Excel skills
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines, both independently and as part of a team
  • Detail oriented and the ability to deliver work products with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written skills, and the ability to convey complex information
  • Available to work across time zones with flexibility to follow-up on items outside of business hours, including weekends

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations, intercompany balancing, and assist with multi-company consolidation
  • Prepare and maintain monthly accounting support work-papers and perform reconciliations ensuring compliance with statutory accounting principles
  • Analyze account and variance analysis while preparing internal reporting packages for management review
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual statutory financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting principles and other regulatory requirements
  • Assist with statutory regulatory reports, including premium tax and other state required regulatory filings
  • Support the preparation of supplemental financial exhibits and various other accounting statements and reports, as required by management and the Board
  • Work with related third parties to ensure that all data required for financial reporting is received and correct and resolve reconciling items if necessary
  • Assist in preparing information for independent auditors and tax preparers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Insurance Accounting Suite (IAS) or other general ledger system
  • Certified Public Accountant or CPA candidate
