Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Requires at least 5 years of experience in the accounting field
  • Proficiency with accounting software, payment processing platforms, and electronic banking systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to achieve deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Execute month-end closing process by preparing journal entries and financial reports (P&L, trial balance, bank reconciliations, A/R reports)
  • Manage payment processing
  • Receive and verify payment information, including EFTs, wire transfers, and checks
  • Accurately apply payments to customer accounts, invoices, or other relevant financial records
  • Process claims, ensuring accurate and timely payments
  • Manage payables owed to insurance carriers
  • Reconcile carrier/broker differences in payments
  • Manage A/R and collections for overdue payments
  • Manage the premium audit processes by reviewing documentation and ensuring accurate and compliant financial records
  • Regularly reconcile bank statements with payment records and general ledger to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies
  • Create and file weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual Surplus Lines tax reports for each state
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations accurately and in accordance with company requirements
  • Oversee various monthly accrual, true-up, settlement, bad debt calculations
  • Demonstrate solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and payment processing procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or pursuing CPA completion preferred
  • Prefer at least 2 years team leadership experience
  • Insurance experience a plus
