Senior Accountant

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
Requires at least 5 years of experience in the accounting field
Proficiency with accounting software, payment processing platforms, and electronic banking systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advanced Excel skills required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under pressure to achieve deadlines
High degree of accuracy with attention to detail
Self-motivated and proactive
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and achieve results in a fast-paced and changing environment
Must have flexibility of work hours and the ability to put in extra hours during peak times

Execute month-end closing process by preparing journal entries and financial reports (P&L, trial balance, bank reconciliations, A/R reports)
Manage payment processing
Receive and verify payment information, including EFTs, wire transfers, and checks
Accurately apply payments to customer accounts, invoices, or other relevant financial records
Process claims, ensuring accurate and timely payments
Manage payables owed to insurance carriers
Reconcile carrier/broker differences in payments
Manage A/R and collections for overdue payments
Manage the premium audit processes by reviewing documentation and ensuring accurate and compliant financial records
Regularly reconcile bank statements with payment records and general ledger to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies
Create and file weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual Surplus Lines tax reports for each state
Perform balance sheet account reconciliations accurately and in accordance with company requirements
Oversee various monthly accrual, true-up, settlement, bad debt calculations
Demonstrate solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and payment processing procedures
