Requirements

  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in public relations and/or related fields including marketing, advertising, management consulting, media, and publishing.
  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Play a major role in driving the planning, development, and execution of comprehensive public relations campaigns, working with Edelman’s specialists as part of an integrated team.
  • Serve as daily client contact and integrated agency team contact, and as client lead when appropriate.
  • Serve as a team leader, bringing good vibes, strong leadership skills and the ability to jump into anything headfirst.
  • Develop positive, trusting client relationships with direct and indirect client teams in-person, over email and during regular calls.
  • Connect the dots across work streams, flagging relevant news/trends/topics, client updates and ways of working to the broader team when relevant.
  • Think with a solutions first mindset, including the ability to proactively problem solve and collaborate with account leadership to identify solutions.
  • Oversee quality and operational performance of accounts, ensuring work quality and deadline adherence.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in writing skills to craft internal and client correspondence, communications plans, press materials, new business proposals, etc.
  • Demonstrate tactical proficiency in media relations, including creating and driving outreach plans, message development, management of events, coordination of media familiarization trips, effective pitching, and training of spokespersons on speeches and presentations, and growth of contact network. Oversee junior staff’s work products to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Help mentor, coach, and support team members and ensure you and your staff are constantly developing abilities through Edelman University and other training, including on-the-job training and mentoring.
  • Build a network of industry clients and participate in relevant professional organizations and networking activities that will grow Edelman brand recognition and your own reputation.
  • Contribute to new business process, including identifying new business opportunities.
  • Participate in cross-practice and cross-geographical teams to provide clients and prospects with the most compelling team and proposal.
  • Manage day-to-day client budget issues to resolution. Manage process of developing client scope of work document, with support from finance and project management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong business acumen and familiarity with the food supply chain and restaurant/QSR companies brand experience.
  • Prior experience in an agency environment.
  • Track record of expertly counseling clients across a range of food and beverage subsets to manage issues and meet business goals based on a deep understanding of the media, regulatory and stakeholder landscape.
  • Strong track record of leading data-driven and well researched traditional and integrated corporate communications programs across internal and external channels to build reputation and brand trust.
  • The ability to act as a daily client contact and to be responsible for client-related finance management, including managing large projects within budget.
  • Demonstrates excellent writing, editing, and presentation-development skills; project management skills; and consultative skills (including effective questions, critical thinking, client management and framework and methodology application).
  • Ability to derive clarity out of ambiguous situations.
  • Possesses strong understanding of how to communicate with teams and work from both client and agency sides.
  • Strong track record of leading programs across internal and external channels (e.g., media relations, social, owned).
  • Solid knowledge of industry best and emerging practices.
