Requirements
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of prior relevant experience.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in the cybersecurity domain, with a significant and demonstrable focus on security architecture and infrastructure design.
- Experience in architecting and implementing complex, enterprise-grade solutions across multiple deployment models (on-premise, hybrid environments), with a strong emphasis on Linux-based systems, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Knowledge of core network security technologies, including advanced firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), virtual private networks (VPNs), network segmentation strategies, and deep understanding of TCP/IP and other networking protocols.
- An understanding of identity and access management (IAM) principles, protocols, and leading technologies, with experience in Linux-based authentication and authorization mechanisms.
- Experience in designing and implementing robust data protection strategies and technologies, including encryption methodologies and data loss prevention (DLP) solutions within Linux environments.
- Analytical, critical thinking, and complex problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to make sound and strategic decisions.
- Communication, persuasive presentation, and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively within a high-performing team environment.
- Leadership and strong influencing skills with the ability to drive consensus and achieve strategic objectives.
- Experience in mentoring and guiding junior technical staff, including those working with Linux and networking technologies
- Ability to obtain security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Formulate and maintain the organization’s long-term systems infrastructure architecture strategy, ensuring its alignment with overarching naval radars goals and anticipating future security challenges.
- Architect and design intricate, enterprise-grade security solutions spanning a number of domains, including network security, identity and access management frameworks, data protection strategies, and endpoint security measures.
- Support the Cyber Sustainment Lead in implementing comprehensive security architecture standards, robust policies, and industry-leading best practices across the entirety of the family of radars technology infrastructure.
- In partnership with SSE CPT, rigorously evaluate and strategically recommend technologies and vendor solutions based on stringent technical evaluations, comprehensive cost-benefit analyses, and seamless alignment with established architectural requirements.
- Foster seamless collaboration with teams, including infrastructure, software development, and other engineering units, to ensure the integration of security considerations throughout the entire technology lifecycle.
- Serve as a mentor and provide expert technical guidance to other secure systems engineers and other engineers within the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and security excellence.
- Develop and maintain meticulous and comprehensive architecture documentation, including detailed diagrams, clearly defined standards, and practical implementation guidelines.
- Maintain a deep and current understanding of the latest cybersecurity threats, emerging vulnerabilities, and cutting-edge technologies. Proactively identify and champion opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation within the organization’s security landscape.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DevSecOps principles, practices, and tooling.
- Experience with RHEL based systems.
- Knowledge of various infrastructure modeling methodologies and their practical application.
- Experience working within the defense industry.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting languages commonly used in security and infrastructure management (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Experience developing and delivering technical training materials or workshops.
