Requirements
- Ability to present complex science topics in compelling, easily understandable language for a full complement of media, including web content, social media posts, tour descriptions, and e-newsletters.
- Ability to tailor content to resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences, maintaining clarity and engagement across diverse groups.
- Skill in writing, information gathering, interviewing, and communication planning and development.
- Experience in proofreading and editing complex content.
- Knowledge of Standard American usage of English.
- Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style and the Associated Press Stylebook.
- Successful track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Passion for the mission of the Lab.

- Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, journalism, or a related scientific/technical discipline, and 4+ years of experience, or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Research, write and edit scientific and research-related communications, publications, press releases, news and feature stories, web content, and other materials.
- Collaborate closely with scientists, researchers, and creative staff.
- Work independently and as a team member in a dynamic, fast-paced work setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a scientific or technical environment, such as a national laboratory, research university, or as a writer/journalist for a science-oriented publication desired.
