Requirements

  • Regular attendance is essential.
  • Must have a high degree of mechanical aptitude.
  • Shop floor experience in sheet metal and welding manufacturing.
  • 3 -5 years of aluminum and steel MIG welding.
  • Familiarity with welding robots and fabrication machinery.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of the use of measuring equipment including tape measure, adjustable square, calipers, micrometers.
  • Knowledge of CNC machinery.
  • Must have the ability to write, speak and read in English.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all machines and equipment are used properly and safely.
  • Report all safety, product, machine maintenance, and workforce issues and needs to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Monitor daily machine maintenance and perform basic equipment set-up functions.
  • Set an example for others with personal work ethics, positive attitude, and good attendance.
  • Follow the Supervisor’s lead to orient and train new employees.
  • Work with the Supervisor to assign and coordinate employees’ daily work assignments and hours, including assessing additional work time as needed to ensure the daily completion of scheduled work.
  • Monitor schedule, breaks, and lunches of personnel to minimize down time.
  • Monitor production schedule and alert the Supervisor of potential problems or bottlenecks.
  • Perform quality control operations, and report results of quality audits to the Supervisor.
  • Work with the Supervisor to anticipate workload requirements and stage product and resources accordingly.
  • Report on all material needs, discrepancies, or changes to the Supervisor.
  • Work with the Supervisor to plan and achieve production goals.
  • Perform various tasks as required by production needs, including operating powered and manual material handling equipment, loading, and unloading parts and material.
  • Handle additional tasks necessary within the plant to fulfill the needs of the company and the customer as deemed by the management.
  • Encourage all employees to attain maximum productivity through leadership and observation.
  • Assist in the layout of production lines for new products.
  • Train co-workers and newly hired personnel on proper welding techniques specific to U-Haul products.
  • Ensure that first article inspection and quality control audits are performed.
  • Inspect work and completed assemblies.
  • Assure that the highest standards are maintained for safety, housekeeping, and compliance with all company and government standards, policies, procedures, and practices.
