Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business-related discipline from an accredited university or college, or equivalent knowledge/experience
  • Significant experience in the Power industry & with power plant equipment
  • Considerable experience influencing cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization to achieve a desired outcome

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain integrated views of competitiveness for Gas Power New Unit Plant products (Steam Turbine, Generator, HRSG, Hot SCR) and plant offerings (simple and combined cycle) against competitors, rationalizing and interpreting various sources of competitive intelligence across the organization. Consolidated competitiveness views can include product gameboards, strategic gameboards, value comparisons
  • Conduct competitive gap analyses to identify core business and technical strengths and weaknesses of the GEV offerings compared to competitors; analyze potential impact on GEV business objectives
  • Stay abreast and assist in vetting out relevant competitive intelligence in partnership with the Competitive Intelligence Leader; translate competitive intelligence knowledge into strategy
  • Understand win/loss reasons for the New Unit plant products & offerings, identify trends and utilize data in combination with customer and EPC partner feedback to define improvement actions
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, New Unit Business Line, Poles, and enabling functions (Engineering, Supply Chain, …) to define strategies, actions, as well as differentiated and compelling value propositions for the Gas Power New Unit Plant products and offerings
  • Develop plant-related competitiveness strategies feeding into long term product planning (MGPP) and long term strategy planning (LTS)
  • Contribute to the New Product Development (NPI) process by providing competitive context, inputs to the Marketing Requirements Document (MRD), Product Requirements Document (PRD), Gate Review Critical Questions, and new product proposals
  • Drive and lead Red Team Blue Team simulation events on specific deals or strategic areas to deliver a better understanding of our competitive position and identify winning strategies
  • Develop and maintain tools to aid commercial teams in winning deals (sell-against content, playbooks, targeted tools, etc.)
  • Engage in Command Centers / deal crafting to improve New Unit win rate, with a focus on Plant products & offerings
  • Summarize competitive positioning, strategy, and actions for Executive-level communications

  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities and analytical skills
  • Outstanding technical depth with Gas Power Plants & Products (Combined Cycle plants, Simple Cycle plants, Generators, Steam Turbines, HRSGs) along with solid business acumen
  • Deep knowledge of the global power generation marketplace and Gas Power OEM competitors and their offerings
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including executive level presentations
  • Strategic thinking – ability to combine domain knowledges and expertise to develop market-backed and customer-validated product strategies for existing and emerging spaces
  • Strategic integration – ability to influence & partner with key internal and external parties to develop novel solutions and integrate them into our business processes
  • Decisive alignment – ability to drive collaboration, alignment and execution across the horizontal leaders in the Gas Power business to deliver results for our customers and our business financial objectives
