Requirements
- Associate degree in Applied Science or Equivalent
- Area of study or major: Respiratory Care or NBRC approved registry requirements
- Valid Ohio Respiratory Care License
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist Credential through NBRC (National Board for Respiratory Care)
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP certification required within 6 months of hire or based upon course availability
- PALS certification required within 6 months of hire or based upon course availability
- Ability to analyze, prioritize and evaluate patient needs in an efficient and effective manner
- Ability to assess, recommend, implement and modify respiratory care procedures by protocol or by physician order
- Initiate, maintain, troubleshoot and wean patients from various respiratory equipment
- Must be able to complete all clinical and didactic yearly competencies for clinical areas assigned
- Must possess and display effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Possesses ability to educate staff, physicians and patients related disease process, treatment and/or medications.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the respiratory assessment, therapeutic treatment, evaluation, testing, education, and communication for all patient populations served
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team to promote excellent patient experience
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Ohio Respiratory Care Laws, applicable regulatory standards, and institutional and system policies.
