Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in a relevant field OR equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education
- Knowledge of billing procedures and CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel) and medical practice management systems
- Two years of experience in a physician office setting
Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between the practice and administration, billing service, IS, finance and other hospital departments.
- Coordinate reception, appointment scheduling, registration, charge entry and medical records functions to promote the smooth, efficient flow of patients through the office.
- Collaborate with Coding Coordinator(s) to ensure compliance with ICD-10 and CPT coding.
- Ensure accurate/timely charge entry and processing of denials and troubleshoot billing problems.
- Take appropriate steps to solve patient and guest complaints or problems.
- Recommend, implement and evaluate patient satisfaction initiatives.
- Collaborate with Patient Financial Services in referring patients to available funding sources such as Medicaid, Access to Care and Medicare.
- Follow up on all PCP referrals received, ensuring workflow is accurately reflected daily to capture patient progression through referral process.
- Facilitate coordination of care from all referral sources to ensure efficient patient information sharing.
- Coordinate and schedule procedures based on the input and availability of the attending physicians and residents.
- Track that all patients scheduled for surgery, remain on the appropriate schedule and the procedure is completed.
- Support the Attending physicians as their point of contact for all patient calls, determining if the patient is a clinic patient and referring to the appropriate location.
- Prepare and ensure timely completion of monthly clinic statistical reports.
- Prepare and maintain annual resident research reports.
- Order supplies, prepare check requests for purchased items and work with Accounts Payable to process payments.
- Maintain strict control of expenses.
