Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- May require professional certification
Responsibilities
- Conduct histological slide preparation and staining techniques (e.g., immunohistochemistry) to visualize neural markers
- Perform advanced microscopy to analyze tissue samples and experimental results
- Participate in sterile surgeries, including preparation, intraoperative support, and post-operative care under IACUC-approved protocols in rodents
- Perform behavioral studies and analyze outcomes in preclinical models through detailed scoring systems
- Manage laboratory supplies and ensure adherence to safety regulations and operational efficiency
- Collaborate on research projects exploring therapeutic interventions for spinal cord injuries, including pharmacological and surgical approaches
- Collect and process data to quantify outcomes and evaluate novel therapeutic methods
- Contribute to ongoing projects focusing on CNS tissue preservation, chronic inflammation mapping, and neuroprotection strategies
- Present findings during team meetings and conferences to guide research direction and methodology
- Mentor and train undergraduate researchers, providing guidance on experimental design and laboratory methods
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with animal husbandry and rodent model care under IACUC protocols
- Proficient in cardiac perfusion of laboratory animals, tissue processing, staining, and advanced microscopy techniques
- Familiarity with surgical procedures and biometrics management during experiments
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication abilities, particularly in presenting scientific findings
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team setting
