Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Four years of related experience
  • Previous experience with Livestock, cattle, sheep, and goats is desirable
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
  • Open to developing new skills and professional development
  • Ability to lift moderately heavy objects and to exert heavy force
  • Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends

Responsibilities

  • Milk dairy goats daily, ensuring proper collection and processing of milk
  • Observe and communicate with animal care staff regarding the health and well-being of the dairy goats
  • Perform general animal husbandry tasks, including feeding, grooming, and maintaining a clean environment
  • Assist the veterinarian and senior staff with medical treatments and research procedures related to dairy goats
  • Develop and implement dairy processing procedures for products such as ice cream, cheese, yogurt, and other dairy products
  • Produce dairy products for research purposes and sales, ensuring high-quality standards are met
  • Clean and maintain dairy equipment daily to ensure proper functionality and sanitation
  • Clean and maintain dairy facilities to meet Department of Health compliance standards
  • Interact and coordinate with researchers conducting dairy goat-related experiments, scheduling and providing necessary resources
  • Collect research samples and measurement data, such as milk samples, and document observations for analysis
  • Make and record observations, including daily milk production data and other scientific measurements
  • Maintain accurate records of animal activities, including daily milk production logs
  • Complete and maintain all required compliance documentation to meet research, safety, and health standards
  • Assist in training research technicians and new team members on dairy management and research practices
  • Complete all required compliance training to stay current with organizational and legal guidelines
  • Monitor technical equipment and troubleshoot issues to ensure research continuity
  • Continuously develop technical and soft skills, including communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support team goals and organizational needs

  • Previous experience with Livestock, cattle, sheep, and goats is desirable
