Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in a Biological/ Health Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.
- Requires successful completion of a background check.
- Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
Responsibilities
- Independently conduct assigned experiments
- Perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis
- Sort and process tissue and blood samples
- Test and evaluate current procedures
- Perform routine procedures on lab animals
- Record, consolidate and assist with analysis of research results
- Assist in evaluating the validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
- Summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
- Prepare research progress reports and assist the Principal Investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts
- Conduct library research on requested topics through researching current literature
- Oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities
- Assist with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
- Set up and operate laboratory equipment
- Monitor research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
