Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with 10+ years experience, MS with at least 5-7 years, or PhD with 0-2 years in relevant subject area required.
  • Specifically, a degree in Analytical Chemistry is highly desirable.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of analytical chemistry to ensure compliance to pharmacopeial standards.
  • Relevant technical discipline, including a degree in Analytical Chemistry with a broad background in problem solving leading to compliance for IVS drug substances and drug products.
  • Ability to make routine and some less routine decisions independently.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and the ability to shift gears between projects comfortably.
  • Experience with United States Pharmacopeia and compliance to its content.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with various business units.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the lead analytical scientist for IV Solutions (IVS) ensuring compliance to US Pharmacopeial standards.
  • Communicates with Product Design Owners (PDOs) (Solutions and Container) when USP updates require updates to Baxter documents.
  • Opens change controls in conjunction with PDOs to align USP requirements to Baxter Specifications.
  • Attends monthly USP compliance meeting and relays pertinent information to relevant PDOs.
  • Writes technical justifications for updating Baxter specifications when needed.
  • Interfaces with other GBUs to align on cross-GBU strategies for common USP updates.
  • Works with other regional pharmacopeial representatives when alignment of specifications are proposed and ensure IVS PDOs are informed.
  • Develop new or improved techniques and procedures around specific tasks; write and implement SOP’s. Develop research outlines for large scientific projects.
  • Conduct laboratory studies to determine analytical method compliance and perform verification/validations when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in Analytical Chemistry is highly desirable.
