Requirements

  • Master’s Degree and two (2) years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of experience in one of the domains above or applied robotics.
  • Experience in the form of research or projects completed at the university.
  • Knowledge of the Robot Operating System (ROS), Python, and C++ preferably with a history of creating or contributing to the ROS software base.
  • Current funding sources require that eligible candidates are U.S. Citizens.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out research in the area of applied robotics for use in extreme environments, particularly in the nuclear, space, oil & gas industries, and/or military applications though other application areas may be considered.
  • Support deliverables related to autonomous mobile systems, mobile manipulation, and human-machine interfaces.
  • Support efforts to maintain or obtain research funding from federal agencies and industry.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting research, including experience contributing to or authoring scholarly publications in archival journals, filing of patent applications, and/or having received research funding from governmental and private funding agencies.
  • Experience writing research grants in addition to experience in writing proposals and obtaining research funding.
  • Experience in CAD and 3D printing.
  • Experience with basic wiring, DC circuits, and microcontrollers.
  • Working knowledge of the application areas: nuclear, oil and gas industries, or the defense industry.
