Requirements
- Master’s Degree and two (2) years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of experience in one of the domains above or applied robotics.
- Experience in the form of research or projects completed at the university.
- Knowledge of the Robot Operating System (ROS), Python, and C++ preferably with a history of creating or contributing to the ROS software base.
- Current funding sources require that eligible candidates are U.S. Citizens.

Responsibilities
- Carry out research in the area of applied robotics for use in extreme environments, particularly in the nuclear, space, oil & gas industries, and/or military applications though other application areas may be considered.
- Support deliverables related to autonomous mobile systems, mobile manipulation, and human-machine interfaces.
- Support efforts to maintain or obtain research funding from federal agencies and industry.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience conducting research, including experience contributing to or authoring scholarly publications in archival journals, filing of patent applications, and/or having received research funding from governmental and private funding agencies.
- Experience writing research grants in addition to experience in writing proposals and obtaining research funding.
- Experience in CAD and 3D printing.
- Experience with basic wiring, DC circuits, and microcontrollers.
- Working knowledge of the application areas: nuclear, oil and gas industries, or the defense industry.
