Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biological sciences, cell biology, biological engineering, or related field
  • Strong experience in aquatic genetic resources, cell biology, and technology development
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Independent research and process development for germplasm cryopreservation, cell cultures, reproductive physiology of aquatic species, or algae
  • Collaboration with engineers and makers to produce hardware devices for germplasm preservation
  • Close coordination for repository development with national stock centers that provide aquatic animals for biomedical research
  • Development of manuscripts and presentations to disseminate information
  • Animal husbandry of aquatic biomedical model organisms
  • Coordination of outreach efforts for community development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with sterile culture, microbiology, or reproductive biology
  • Experience with CAD, 3-D printing, and open hardware
  • Previous supervision of undergraduate and graduate students
  • Experience in tinkering with electronics, microprocessors, and microcontrollers
