Requirements
- Ph. D. or DVM in related field
- 5 years of post doctoral experience in a research laboratory
Responsibilities
- Work on bovine herpesvirus pathogenesis studies
- Conduct Bovine herpesvirus and pseudorabies virus vectored vaccine research
- Establish an independent, extramurally funded research program in virology
- Write and be the PI on research proposals and seek salary support
- Graduate virology teaching
- Mentoring laboratory technicians, graduate and undergraduate students
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-doctoral research experience in bovine herpesvirus and pseudorabies virus vectored vaccines
- Vaccine efficacy studies in large animals
- Post-doctoral research experience with relevant publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Post Doctoral experience in molecular virology
- Genetic manipulation of viruses
- Genetically engineered vaccine research
- Vaccine efficacy studies in cattle, pigs, sheep or goats, dogs, and cats
- DVM or equivalent and a Ph.D. degree in molecular virology, emphasizing herpesviruses
