Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certification within three months of start date
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a focus on oncology care preferred
- Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing patient needs
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients, including physical and psychological aspects, to develop individualized care plans
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other medications as prescribed, ensuring proper dosage, safety, and patient education
- Monitor and manage cancer-related symptoms and side effects, providing appropriate interventions and counseling
- Educate patients and families about their diagnosis, treatment options, and self-care, offering emotional support throughout the process
- Assist with procedures, surgeries, and diagnostic tests, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans, medication administration, and progress notes
- Collaborate with oncologists, nurse practitioners, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care
- Follow established infection control protocols and ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and staff
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects to enhance patient outcomes and clinic practices
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families, addressing their psychological and emotional needs
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree preferred
- ACLS preferred but not required
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a focus on oncology care preferred
