Requirements
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
- Current NYS RN Nursing licensure
- Minimum of two (2) years oncology and/or ambulatory experience – chemotherapy/biotherapy administration certification
- Proficient IV/Central line access skills
- Demonstrates ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication skills
Responsibilities
- Provides direct care to patients with Hematological and Oncological diseases
- Completes Admission Nursing Assessments on new and returning patients
- Triages side effects of therapies, and completes routine skin and toxicity assessments, reporting all findings to the appropriate providers
- Provides patients and families with education related to disease, treatment, potential adverse effects and symptom management for both Radiation and Infusion therapies
- Administers chemotherapy/biotherapy, as prescribed by a provider, determines that the patient meets criteria, and verifies orders prior to administration
- Provides non-oncologic infusion-related treatments to patients within the community
- Documents patient interactions, assessments, advice, and responses to care in the EMR and discusses the plan with the provider
- Flexes between Radiation Oncology and Infusion areas as assigned for direct patient care
Preferred Qualifications
- Infusion experience
- Outpatient Oncology Experience
- Knowledge of Radiation Oncology
