Requirements

  • Work related experience including AMI / AMR, military, cellular, industry preferred with a focus on RF field related background
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills are essential
  • Must be literate with all MS Suite applications, general computer skills, able to type efficiently, Spreadsheets, Graphs and Analyses of project related information, Salesforce knowledge or similar CRM based applications
  • Must be literate in using RF field test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzer, Wattmeter, loads, attenuators etc.
  • Additional understanding of antenna’s and capabilities (panel, Omni), cable types, usage as well as it’s dB values, combiner splitters and all the properties that exist for each, backhaul such as fiber, modems, routers, cellular, SIM card configuration, range finder
  • Understanding of programmable DC power systems and associated battery plants
  • All candidates must have a reliable source of transportation to travel throughout the region, valid and current driver’s license and clean driving record
  • This position does require travel extensively, as much as 70%
  • Availability to be on call

Responsibilities

  • Main responsibility is certifying the RF equipment utilized in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) networks
  • Utilization of Salesforce customer relationship management (CRM) for work schedule, data tracking, operational verification, certification of equipment tracking and paperwork
  • Provide written documentation, screen captures, photography or any other mechanism to a host of internal and external resources
  • Additional duties will include the oversite of contractor installation groups used in installing the RF equipment and provide feedback of their installations
  • Responsible for troubleshooting networks that fail to meet or maintain the minimum contractual levels or System Level Acceptance (SLA)
  • Items could consist of but are not limited to interference mitigation in the Sensus licensed spectrum, faulty installations of the RF network equipment, base station hardware or power system failures or other instances that may arise
  • Provide feedback to the internal RF Design group, VAR’s, installation contractors or any other entity that requires the tracking and management of installations in order to set and maintain Sensus’ high standards
  • May be called on to be a resource during pilots, test phases, proof of concept in an effort to increase market share within the AMI industry and meet with external individuals and or groups to promote an eventual sale
  • In instances of NaaS (Network as a Service) in the given territory the RFE will be responsible in maintaining the projected response times called out in the contract
  • Will develop topics for and conduct routine meetings within Sensus to help solidify projected versus actual field performance metrics, provide standard deployment practices from the deployment of pilots to O&M activities and document findings
  • Primary interaction and workload will be directed by the Project and or Program Managers within the geographic area being served and report to this group
  • Training and support will either come from the Senior RFE and or the regional RFE
  • Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable in BICSI, ANSI, and TIA Standards
  • RF Infrastructure installation experience
  • Linux experience
  • Mapping software experience such as MapInfo, Streets & Trips, Delorme
  • Propagation analysis experience such as Techwizard, Vertical Mapper, Planet EV
