Requirements
- Registered as a radiation therapy technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent organization
- Six months of experience in one or more specialized radiation therapy areas; OR equivalent education/experience.
Responsibilities
- Administer radiation treatments, including stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), to canine and feline (and occasionally other species) patients under the supervision of a board‐certified veterinary radiation oncologist
- Position patients of all sizes and shapes and accurately deliver the prescribed course of radiation therapy
- Conduct plan Quality Assurance (QA)
- Thorough documentation of cases
- Help with planning Computed Tomography (CT) setups
- Hold patients for anesthesia induction
- Observe patients post anesthesia until they are awake
- Assist with monitoring medical procedures (blood draws, obtaining small biopsies or fine needle aspirates of masses)
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience as a Radiation Technologist
- Training in dosimetry to help develop treatment plans (could be one year of on-the-job training in dosimetry under supervision or completion of a program in Medical Dosimetry recognized by the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Desire to work with animals and owners of animals
- Desire to work with veterinary technicians to help with patient care
- Desire to work in a training atmosphere interacting with students and residents
