Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering or quality assurance within the composites industry.
  • Strong knowledge of composite materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control techniques.
  • Proficiency in inspection tools, testing equipment, and software for data analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex quality issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment with changing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols for composite manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor and inspect composite materials and products to ensure they meet design specifications and industry standards.
  • Identify areas for improvement within the composites shop and recommend solutions to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the production team to integrate best practices and new technologies.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and testing of composite materials and finished components.
  • Utilize advanced testing equipment and techniques to assess material properties, structural integrity, and performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality assessments, test results, and inspection reports.
  • Prepare detailed reports on quality metrics and issues, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Stay updated on advancements in composite materials and quality control methodologies.
  • Work closely with engineering, design, and production teams to resolve quality issues, provide technical support, and contribute to the development of new composite materials and manufacturing techniques.
  • Provide training and guidance to shop personnel on quality standards, best practices, and proper use of inspection tools and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or certifications in composite materials and quality control are a plus.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or maritime applications is highly desirable.
