Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering or quality assurance within the composites industry.
- Strong knowledge of composite materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control techniques.
- Proficiency in inspection tools, testing equipment, and software for data analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex quality issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols for composite manufacturing processes.
- Monitor and inspect composite materials and products to ensure they meet design specifications and industry standards.
- Identify areas for improvement within the composites shop and recommend solutions to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Collaborate with the production team to integrate best practices and new technologies.
- Conduct thorough inspections and testing of composite materials and finished components.
- Utilize advanced testing equipment and techniques to assess material properties, structural integrity, and performance.
- Maintain accurate records of quality assessments, test results, and inspection reports.
- Prepare detailed reports on quality metrics and issues, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Stay updated on advancements in composite materials and quality control methodologies.
- Work closely with engineering, design, and production teams to resolve quality issues, provide technical support, and contribute to the development of new composite materials and manufacturing techniques.
- Provide training and guidance to shop personnel on quality standards, best practices, and proper use of inspection tools and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree or certifications in composite materials and quality control are a plus.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or maritime applications is highly desirable.
