Requirements
- Bachelors’ Degree in Quality, Engineering, or related field
- 7-10 years quality management experience, preferably in plastic packaging
- Professional Accreditation in Quality Engineering and Systems required
- Advanced, mastery level knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies, Process Capability, and Designed Experiment procedures is required
- Comprehensive understanding of quality management systems, food safety programs, Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), HACCP, and GMP standards is required
- Must have strong skills in Microsoft Office, Statistical Analysis, Process/Product Control and Designed Experimentation software tools
- Must be self-starting, self-motivated personality type, able to work independently
Responsibilities
- Owner, Expert, Executor, and Teacher of the Amcor Quality Management System to local management teams and staff
- Serves both the plants and corporate Quality function, to ensure transparency and to get timely and solid guidance from corporate
- Designs, implements and directs the Quality Assurance program for the plant, including but not limited to plant management responsibilities, and document and data control; expert at the plant level on product characteristics and performance
- Advocates to corporate groups when products require improvement
- Representative to the Customer on Quality and product performance matters at the plant level; advocates for Amcor in representing Amcor products and systems to local customers
- Serves as a primary contact with customers in the event of CINS (Customer Incidents), leads internal product performance investigation, and implements corrective and preventative actions. Drives resolution to conclusion and systematically improves product and system quality
- Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plants to maximize product reliability and minimize costs
- Inspects incoming purchased or customer-supplied materials, work-in-process material, rework materials and finished goods; assures the required level of quality through visual inspection, statistical sampling and laboratory testing of materials; ascertains the reasons for nonconforming materials
- Establishes, monitors, and maintains statistical process control (SPC) programs; advises and instructs local managers in utilization of SPC data
- Ensure all testing requirements are met per corporate standards
- Maintains access to the Amcor corporate database that houses customer specifications and our established guidelines for achieving those requirements related to product safety, quality, legality, process and specification (Windchill and RealSPC or corporate approved equivalent software applications)
- Provides consistent ongoing analysis of process capability (CPK) statistics. Determine, recommend, and assist in continuous improvement programs to meet plant/division quality objective and advise the plant manager of appropriate action plans. Suggest improvements in procedures and techniques to improve product and customer acceptance
- Establishes, monitors and controls hold for inspection (HFI) procedures to ensure nonconforming materials do not enter the production process and are properly identified and segregated
- Analyzes quality control test results and provide feedback and interpretation to production management or staff
- Coordinates internal quality audits (e.g., housekeeping, Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Manages team of direct reports and is responsible for employee selection, development, mentoring, and performance management. Responsible for overall talent management and employee engagement; cultivates an environment of safety, high performance, and ethical and legal compliance; addresses employee relations issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing and implementing advanced Quality Management Systems is preferred
- Experience with plastics and/or packaging or other high speed, high volume conversion processes in the production environment is preferred
