Requirements
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals.
- Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and engineering fundamentals even with partial information.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical field.
- Strong knowledge of quality standards, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1, and ISO 9001.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements from the NRC, DOE, and other applicable authorities.
- Proficiency in QA tools and methodologies, including root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and auditing techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for preparing reports and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Assurance (QA) programs in compliance with NRC, DOE, and ASME standards, including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, NQA-1, and other relevant requirements.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and assessments to ensure adherence to quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Oversee the qualification of suppliers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with QA requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and regulatory teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Review and approve technical documentation, including procedures, plans, and reports, to ensure alignment with QA standards.
- Support the development of training programs on quality assurance policies, procedures, and best practices for facility personnel.
- Prepare and present QA performance metrics and reports to management and regulatory bodies.
- Participate in regulatory reviews and inspections to ensure ongoing compliance with nuclear quality standards.
- Stay informed about evolving regulations, standards, and industry best practices related to nuclear quality assurance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).
- Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment or a highly technical role requiring a resourceful, entrepreneurial approach to complete tasks within tight timeframes or budget constraints.
- Quality assurance experience in the nuclear industry or a related regulated environment.
- Certification in Quality Assurance or Nuclear QA (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, NQA-1 Lead Auditor).
- Advanced degrees.
