Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or similar technical field or 4+ years of equivalent professional experience in automotive manufacturing/engineering.
- Manufacturing, Quality, or Engineering experience (includes applicable co-op experience) developing one or more of the following commodities/products: Interior – Trim, Garnish, Instrument Panel, Console Box, HVAC; Exterior – Grill, Bumper, Rocker, Spoiler, Undercover, Outer Mirror, Door handle, Glass; Electrical/Electronic – Audio, Multi-media, ECU, Battery, Hybrid System; Safety and Functional – Airbag, Seat Belt, Steering Wheel, Accelerator/Brake Pedal, Sunroof; Chassis – Steering, Suspension, Brakes, Driveline; Powertrain – Engine, Transmission, Battery; Body & Assembly – Frame, Body stamping, Structural stamping & weld; Seats/Soft Trim – Seat, Headliner, Door Trim.
- Manufacturing, Quality, or Engineering experience developing one or more of the following processes: Molding processes, Plastics joining, Complex Assembly, Paint or Coatings application; Electronics Soldering/SMT, Complex Assembly, Sewing, Wrapping, Wire harness assembly; Casting, Forging (Aluminum & Iron); Machining, Milling, Heat Treatment; Stamping, Welding.
- Experience and knowledge in General Automotive Body and Vehicle Structures.
- Experience reading drawings/prints, including the ability to discuss basic GD&T for manufactured parts.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% Peak, average 25 – 30%.
Responsibilities
- Utilize process engineering and Toyota Production System skills, through collaborative work with our Supplier Partner’s teams, to ensure the design and implementation of optimal manufacturing processes.
- Execute and manage the PSD operating procedure for responsible commodities across multiple vehicle programs.
- Develop, execute, and modify project strategies for critical parts, based on risk-ranking activities.
- Work with Supplier Partners to develop appropriate project schedules to achieve vehicle milestone objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Lead Supplier Partner teams in problem-solving and consensus building to mitigate risks utilizing Toyota Business Practices.
- Maintain and communicate responsible part status information supporting project KPI visualization, internally and externally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive manufacturing experience, working directly for an Automotive OEM or Automotive Supplier.
- New Model Production Preparation experience with demonstrated ability to manage either of the following: Multiple Tier 1 Suppliers Production Preparation across multiple vehicle/unit, projects; The establishment of manufacturing processes to include critical characteristics and parameter controls across a broad spectrum of inputs such as Tooling, Equipment, Process Capacity, Capability, Quality, Throughput and Human Development.
- Experience in design feedback activity for manufacturability or cost-reduction initiatives.
- Experience with Catia /AutoCAD/Autoform.
- Experience with Tool & Die Structure and Design for Stamping, Welding, Casting, Injection Molding, and/or Forging.
- Successful completion of Toyota Business Practice (TBP) Panel or other established problem-solving methodology training & experience.
